Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before visiting a participating Fayette County church on Back to Church Sunday.

On September 20, churches across Fayette County are coming together to help people rediscover their place in the family of God.

Whether you've been away from church for years—or have never attended before—this day is for you. Churches across our county are opening their doors with one simple message:

You're welcome here.

No shame. No pressure. Just a genuine invitation to experience the hope, glory, and love found in Jesus Christ.

Come and see what God might have in store for you.

Absolutely.

Back to Church Sunday was created with people like you in mind. Whether you're curious about faith, returning after many years away, or simply looking for hope and community, you'll find churches ready to welcome you.

You don't need to have everything figured out before you walk through the doors—Jesus loves you enough to meet you where you are and not leave you where you're at.

Every church has its own personality, but you can generally expect:

  • Friendly people
  • Music and worship
  • A practical message from the Bible
  • A relaxed environment
  • Opportunities to meet others

Most services last around an hour, and no one expects you to know what to do. Just come as you are, and they'll help you feel at home.

Some churches are very casual while others are a little more traditional, but you'll find people dressed in everything from jeans and sneakers to business casual.

The important thing isn't what you wear—it's that you're there.

If an offering is received during the service, it's intended for regular members and those who call that church home.

As a guest, simply enjoy the service. There is absolutely no expectation that you give.

Most participating churches offer safe, age-appropriate programs for children with background-checked volunteers, while others encourage families to worship together in the main service.

Your children will feel right at home in the children's ministry classes or with you. We can't wait to meet your family!

Every church listed on this website believes Jesus is Lord and is excited to welcome you.

You can browse churches by:

  • Location
  • Service times
  • Ministries
  • Children's programs
  • Student ministries
  • Other information that's important to you

The best church is often the one where you can grow in your relationship with Jesus and build meaningful relationships with others, so don't feel pressure to find the perfect church. Hint: the perfect church doesn't exist! Instead, choose one that fits your needs or is nearest your home.

You're not alone.

Many people attending on Back to Church Sunday haven't been in church for months—or even years.

Whatever your story, you'll find people who are simply glad you're there. There's no need to explain where you've been—we'll just be glad you're back.

That's okay.

Church is a place to ask questions, explore faith, and discover who Jesus is. You don't have to have everything figured out before you come to church. In fact, Jesus loves genuine curiosity!

Simply browse the church map. You can click the arrow in the top right to find the closest church or use the menu to filter churches by what they offer.

Each church profile includes service times, directions, contact information, and details about who they are so you can find the one that's right for you.
