One day can make a difference. September 16, 2012
National surveys indicate the top two reasons people stop going to church are (1) they are “too busy,” and (2) they feel the burden of family and home responsibilities. These are very real reasons, but they are also probably the top two reasons why a person needs to be in church. Wherever a person is in life or their level of faith, a local church community can be there to support and encourage them.
Back to Church Sunday is a perfect opportunity for any person to get connected with a group of people who are making a difference, grow in faith, give their children a Christian foundation, learn to be a better parent, get marriage help, and reconnect with their community and with the God who loves them. In 2011, over 1.5 million invitations to church were extended for Back to Church Sunday, and over 7,800 churches in 34 different denominations planned a special service to welcome people back and make them feel at home. This year, we’re sure to see many more churches get involved. Visit our church roster to find a church.
“Children and youth who attend religious services weekly exhibit the fewest behavior problems, are more likely to have high-quality relationships with their parents, and are more likely to exhibit positive social behavior, including showing respect for teachers and neighbors, getting along with other children, understanding other people’s feelings, and trying to resolve conflicts with classmates, family, or friends.” —National Survey of Children’s Health, as quoted by Hal Seed, NewSong Community Church
“A study finds people who attend religious services weekly live longer.” —Robert Roy Britt, LiveScience
